Farmer hangs self over crop loss; 3 die of cardiac arrest in UP

Unable to repay a loan, a 55-year-old farmer allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his residence in Alem town of Shamli district here, police said today.

Muzaffarnagar: Unable to repay a loan, a 55-year-old farmer allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his residence in Alem town of Shamli district here, police said today.

 Anandpal committed suicide last night by hanging himself from ceiling of his house as he was unable to repay his loan, police said.

 He took the extreme step after he received a bank notice to repay Rs 1.27 lakh but was not in a position to return it, they said.

 Anandpal's crops were damaged in the unseasonal rain and hailstorm, they said.

 Meanwhile, three farmers died in Muzaffarnagar district allegedly due to cardiac arrest, according to district headquarter officials.

 Arvind (57) of Umerpur village, Rampal (60) of  Lachera village and Udeyvir (56) of Mangalpur village died of cardiac arrest as they were worried over crop loss due to unseasonal rain and hailstorm.
