Muzaffarnagar: A 35-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his parents in connivance with his relatives in Shamli district, police said today.
As per the complaint filed by the victims' daughter, Ratiram (80) and Sona (75) were strangled to death in their sleep by Rameshwar with the help of his father-in-law and brother-in-law in Datheda village last night after the couple refused to sell a piece of land as demanded by the accused, SP Vijai Bhushan said.
A case under relevant sections of IPC was registered against the trio, he said, adding that Rameshwar has been arrested while his accomplices are on the run.
According to the complainant, the accused cremated the bodies of the victims without informing the police and alleged that the couple had committed suicide, Bhushan said.
Efforts are on to nab the absconding culprits, police added.
