Rape survivor refused stretcher in Uttar Pradesh hospital

Lucknow: In yet another case of apathy towards rape victims, a girl who was sexually assaulted and was bleeding profusely, was denied use of stretcher in Lakhimpur government hospital. 

Moreover, the Lakhimpur hospital authorities even refused to touch her after which the victim was carried by her arms and legs by a policeman and one of her family members. 

According to reports, the girl had gone to a filed near her house in Lakhimpur where she was repeatedly raped. The girl narrated the entire incident after which a police complaint was registered in the police station. 

The matter had drawn the attention of the senior district officials as District Magistrate ordered the Chief Medical Officer to look into the issue with required medical attention and take action against the erring staff.
