Hyderabad: Banga Beats defeated Hosts Hyderabad Hotshots 3-2 on their home ground at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium on Day 12 of the Indian Badminton League. It began with a tough match and it ended with one. Parupalli Kashyap of Banga Beats lost to Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk in straight sets but not before the Indian star gave a tough fight. The men’s singles match was followed by the women’s singles match where Saina Nehwal was given a neck-to-neck fight by Tai Tzu Ying before Saina won the match 21-17, 14-21, 11-8. After four matches, the tie was leveled at 2-2 and it took a fifth match to decide the winner for the 12th Day of the Indian Badminton League. Carsten Mogensen and Aparna Balan of Banga Beats played a superb match where they were a set down, but overcame all the pressure to win the match and the tie for Banga Beats -18-21, 21-18, 11-9. Banga Beats haven’t made it to the semis but they can for sure leave with their heads held high. ==================================================================================== Match 5: Carsten Mogensen and Aparna Balan defeated Tarun Kona and Pradnya Gadre 18-21, 21-18, 11-8 Tarun Kona and Pradnya Gadre of Hyderabad Hotshots won the first game 21-18. Carsten Mogensen and Aparna Balan looked under some sort of pressure in the first game, but they got their rhythm in the second game and made a spectacular comeback to win the second and the third game for Banga Beats. ==================================================================================== Match 4: Jan Jorgensen defeated Ajay Jayaram 21-11 21-8 Jan Jorgensen from Denmark made his debut in the Indian Badminton League where he won the first game against Ajay Jayaram and was seen entertaining the crowd for the most part of the second game which proved to be another cake walk for him. ==================================================================================== Match 3: Carsten Mogensen/Akshay Dewalkar defeated V Shem Goh/Khim Wah Lim 21-15, 15-21, 11-1 V Shem Goh and Khim Wah Lim convincingly won the first game 21-15 after which Carsten and Akshay bounced back won the second game 21-15. By the end of the second game, Akshay Dewalkar had grown in confidence as he along with his partner thrashed V Shem Goh and Khim Wah Lim 11-1 in the decider. ==================================================================================== Match 2: Saina Nehwal defeated Tai Tzu Ying 21-17, 14-21, 11-8 In the women’s singles match, Saina Nehwal defeated Tai Tzu Ying in what would be recalled as one of the best matches of this IBL season. The Thai was a tough nut to crack for Saina, who had to struggle a bit to win her fifth consecutive match. Saina won the first game in a comprehensive fashion after which Tai Tzu Ying gave her 100 percent in every point that took the game to the decider. Saina once again used her experience to outshine her opponent. ==================================================================================== Match 1: Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk defeated Parupalli Kashyap 21-20, 21-18 2nd game: Tanongsak took a 7-1 lead even in the second game. Tanongsak extended his lead to 11-3 as Kashyap continued to make several unforced errors. Even at the second break, Tanongsak maintained a 14-4 lead. Kashyap managed to reduce the lead to 11-16 at one stage. With two top class smash shots, he further reduced the lead to 13-16. Tanongsak won a point there after some good play at the nets with a tap shot, 17-13. Kashyap won a point there with a deceptive shot, 14-17. Kashyap played another cross court smashed and took the score to 15-17. Tanongsak won a point there, 18-15. Both the players won a point each and took the score to 19-16. Kashyap won two consecutive points there, 18-19. Tanongsak reached the game and the match point after Kashyap's drop shot hit the nets, 20-18. Tanongsak won the match with an aggressive smash and won the match in straight games - 21-20, 21-18. 1st game: Tanongsak of Hyderabad Hotshots dominated the proceedings from the first point onwards and was leading 7-2 at the first break. But Kashyap made a good comeback and levelled score at 10-10. Trailing 2-7, at second break point, Kashyap was leading 14-11. Kashyap was leading 18-16 in the first game after which Tanongsak won another point to get the score to 17-18. Kashyap went another point after Tanongsak's shot landed wide, 19-17. Tanongsak won another point after Kashyap's return hit the nets, 18-19. Kashyap got a game point with a powerful smash, but Tanongsak replied back with another smash and saved a game point, 19-20. Tanongsak's serve earned him another point and it was game point for both the players at 20-20.
