Five people were killed and at least 42 people were injured after a loud explosion was heard in Kabul's diplomatic area on Tuesday which houses several government buildings.

Kabul: Five people were killed and at least 42 people were injured after a loud explosion was heard in Kabul's diplomatic area on Tuesday which houses several government buildings.

Militants group Taliban has claimed responsibility of the attack and vowed to kill more “slave” judges and prosecutors, Reuters reported.

"The suicide attacker detonated his explosives-packed car inside the parking lot of the Justice Ministry," Kabul police spokesman Ebadullah Karimi had earlier told AFP.

Meanwhile, Deputy Interior Minister Mohammad Ayoub Salangi said four men and one woman had been killed in the attack but it was impossible to say whether one of them was the suicide bomber.

"The body of one of the victims was torn into pieces and we cannot verify if he was the suicide attacker," Salangi told AFP.

The blast, which took place in the car park of the Justice Ministry, was strong enough to rattle windows several kilometers away.

Police and paramedics rushed to the area where wounded were being taken to the hospital in ambulances.

Meanwhile, news agency, Pajhwok Afghan News, tweeted a picture of black smoke weeted a picture of black smoke in the air.

Last week, three people were killed after a suicide bomber attacks a bus carrying employees of the Attorney General’s office.

On Sunday, a car bomb detonated near Kabul airport, hitting a vehicle of the European Union’s police advisory mission killing three people.

Similarly, Taliban attacked a Kabul guest house last week killing 14 people.
