Colombo: Even as he continues to dominate bowlers the world over, Indian batsman Virat Kohli says his mantra to success lies in keeping things simple.
"I don`t think too much about anything. I just try and keep things simple and see how the situation goes, just try to tackle things," Kohli said.
The batsman was today rewarded for his dream run in the last 12 months as he was named the ODI Cricketer of the Year in the ICC annual awards function here.
"It`s always great to be recognised, especially by the ICC," he said.
Asked about what inspire him the most, the 23-year-old Delhi lad said, "Inspiration is playing for the country. I take the motivation and inspiration on to the field."
During the period under consideration, Kohli played 31 ODIs and compiled 1,733 runs at an outstanding average of 66.65, including eight centuries and six half-centuries.
His highest score of 183 came against Pakistan in the Asia Cup on March 18.
The 32-member expert panel preferred Kohli, who beat off competition from his skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Sangakkara and Sri Lanka`s pace spearhead Lasith Malinga.
India teammate Yuvraj Singh promptly lauded the young batsman.
"Congratulations to the young man ! For winning the odi player of the year many more to come for," Yuvraj tweeted.
