Newell`s Old Boys lead Argentine league

Buenos Aires: Playing at home, Newell`s Old Boys beat Argentinos Juniors 2-0 to once again lead Argentina`s football league.

The match was played in `Marcelo Bielsa` stadium in the central city of Rosario Sunday. The first goal was scored in the 20th minute by two-time World Cup participant Maximiliano Rodriguez. Rodriguez could have easily scored the second but missed a penalty in the 37th minute. The second goal of Newell`s was scored by Pablo Perez in the 70th minute. With the victory, Newell`s are on 20 points, one more than San Lorenzo, while Argentinos Juniors have 14. IANS
