Woman boxer Laishram Sarita Devi won a gold in under 57kg weight category in the 2009 World Police and Fire Games at British Columbia in Canada which concluded on Sunday.

New Delhi: Woman boxer Laishram Sarita Devi won a gold in under 57kg weight category in the 2009 World Police and Fire Games at British Columbia in Canada which concluded on Sunday.
Sarita, who was recently named as an Arjuna Awardee, defeated Web Hayley of Canada in the final in the tournament which began on July 31. The Manipur Police inspector, the lone boxer from India in the Games, produced a scintillating display of skill, power and technique to demolish her opponents en-route her gold medal, a release from the Indian Boxing Federation said.There were four weight categories for women in the World Police Games this year -- 57 kg and under, 63.5 kg and under, 71 kg and under, and 75 kg and under.
