Lucknow: The BJP government in Uttar Pradesh led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday sent a proposal to the Centre seeking an extension of DGP Sulkhan Singh's tenure by three months.

There were speculations earlier that Sulkhan Singh's tenure will not be extended.

A high-level panel takes the decision on appointment of the new DGP on the Chief Minister's recommendation.
