Kabul car bomb blast: All that we know so far; check first visuals of massive explosion

New Delhi: At least 45 were killed or wounded following a powerful car bomb explosion in the Afghan capital on Wednesday. The death toll is unclear at the moment but the spokesman for the Afghanistan Ministry of Public Health claimed that there could be many casualties. Explosion occurred in an area which is close to many foreign embassies and government offices.

Here's what we know so far:-

-Powerful car bomb explosion targeted the Iranian Embassy in Kabul.

-The suspected car bomb took place around 8.30 a.m. close to the Zanbaq square in the 10th police district of the city, according to Ministry of Interior spokesman Najib Danish.

-It was a twin blast, say Afghan local news channels. 

-One blast took place at German Gate, while another at Wazir Akbar Khan Street.

-The blast took place in a high-security area which is home to embassies and diplomatic missions, including the Indian Embassy.

-A suicide bomber had detonated a vehicle packed with explosives, claimed Afghan govt spokesman Danish.

-All Indian staffers are reportedly safe. 

-Indian staffers have suffered minor injuries due to the blast. 

-Indian staffers shifted to a safe location. 

-PM Narendra Modi has been briefed about the blast.

-Afghan officials say at least 50 people have been killed or wounded in a suicide car bombing in Kabul.

-The Afghan National Security Force (ANSF) personnels have been deployed in the area for rescue and counter-insurgency operations.

-PM Narendra Modi, condemning the massive attack, tweeted, "India stands with Afghanistan in fighting all types of terrorism. Forces supporting terrorism need to be defeated."

-The Afghan Taliban, meanwhile, denied responsibility in a statement, saying the movement condemned any such untargeted attacks that caused civilian casualties.
