In a re-run of Odisha's infamous Dana Manjhi case, a man was forced to carry the body of his son on shoulder after he was denied help from the in Patna.

Patna: In a re-run of Odisha's infamous Dana Manjhi case, a man was forced to carry the body of his son on shoulder after he was denied help from the hospital authorities in Patna.

According to ANI, the man was forced the carry the body of his son after the hospital, where he took his son for treatment, refused to provide him an ambulance to ferry the body of his son.

The matter came to light after the man was filmed carrying his dead son on his shoulder by some persons who were present in the hospital.

Last year, Dana Manjhi, a tribal man from Thuamul Rampur block of Kalahandi district, was forced to carry the body of his wife on his shoulders as the hospital authorities did not provide him a mortuary van or an ambulance.

The incident, which created headlines, occurred at Bhawanipatna district headquarters hospital where his 42-year-old wife Amang Dei was being treated for tuberculosis.

Unfortunately, even after several correctional steps taken by the respective state governments, many instances of govt officials' apathy and insensitivity towards poor and marginalised people were reported.
