In heart-wrenching tale of apathy, Bihar hospital transports woman's body in garbage cart

Patna: In a distressing case of hospital apathy in Bihar, an elderly woman's body was transported to the autopsy room in a garbage cart, drawing sharp reactions from the public.

The incident reportedly took place in Muzaffarpur district's Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital. The woman had died on Wednesday.

Instead of using a stretcher, the hospital staff carried her body in a garbage cart for autopsy.

Muzaffarpur District Magistrate Dharmendra Singh promptly ordered a probe into the incident after the shocking visuals were circulated on social media.

"We have ordered a probe into the unfortunate incident (dead body of a destitute woman being pulled inside a garbage cart to be taken for post-mortem at SKMCH). Strict action will be taken against those found responsible for negligence," NDTV quoted Singh as saying.

The destitute woman had died in a park near the hospital.

A gardener had reportedly noticed the ailing woman and informed the doctors about it but none of them paid any heed.
