New Delhi: Never has it really happened that just a few days ahead of a big release, makers address a joint press conference announcing that the clash at the Box Office has been averted.

Padmaavat and PadMan were earlier scheduled to hit the screens on January 25, 2018—making it the biggest clash of titans right at the start of this year.

However, this has now been averted. Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Akshay Kumar held a joint press conference in Mumbai where she addressed and media about the major development. Akki informed the press that it was necessary for Padmaavat to get a solo release on that date so after a lot of discussions, we mutually decided to postpone PadMan to February 9, 2018.

ANI shared the press con video on Twitter. Watch it here:

SLB also has been quoted as saying, “#Padmaavat has been made after facing a lot of difficulties, we decided on release date of Jan 25 but it was with Akshay Kumar for release of his film 'PadMan'. We requested him to move release date of his film ahead, he agreed, will be grateful to him for a lifetime.”

This means that now Akki's film will face Manoj Bajpayee and Sidharth Malhotra starrer Aiyaary at the Box Office on the same day. This pushing of films ahead has been prompted all because of a simple reason that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus finally got a nod from the CBFC and the makers locked January 25 as the release date.

Akki said, "It is essential for them to release the film #Padmaavat as quickly as possible, so I agreed to move the release date of my film 'Pad Man' ahead, will now be released on Feb 9."

However, Akki did mention in the press con that they might work out a way so that Aiyaary clash too gets averted.

Padmaavat was earlier scheduled to hit the screens on December 1, 2017, and already faced much delay. Looks like finally SLB and Akki found a midway to avert this big clash which could have affected the numbers of both the films.
