Confirmed! Deepika Padukone's 'Padmavat' to release on Jan 25

New Delhi: Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmavat release date is finally out and it is set to clash with Akshay Kumar's Padman on January 25, 2018.

Earlier, there were rumours about the clash of titans at the Box Office but now noted film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and confirmed the release date.

He tweeted:

PTI quotes sources in Viacom18 Motion Pictures as saying, "The film is releasing on January 25. There is no clarity when the official statement will be out regarding this." Though there was no official word on the release of the film, the industry seemed to be preparing for a January 25 release.

After much delay, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) finally gave it a green signal and cleared the film with a U/A certificate. The film has been given U/A certificate without any cuts but has suggested that the director change the film's title to Padmavat besides making four other modifications.

The film was earlier scheduled to release on December 1, 2017. Padmavat features Deepika Padukone in the titular role as Rani Padmini, Shahid Kapoor plays Maharawal Ratan Singh whereas Ranveer Singh will be seen as Alauddin Khilji.

The film was earlier scheduled to hit the screens on December 1 but after facing major protests across the nation by fringe groups, its release date was pushed ahead for indefinite time.
