New Delhi: Ranbir Kapoor's one of the most ambitious project so far 'Sanju' remains the talk of the town. The actor will be seen portraying the controversial life of superstar Sanjay Dutt on the big screen. The actor transformed himself totally for playing the titular and has been receiving a great response too but do you know the producer of 'Sanju' Vidhu Vinod Chopra actually wanted Ranveer Singh in the lead role.

Yes! Surprising, right? Well, the producer-director in an interview with The Telegraph opened up on the fact that he was rather keen on having an actor like Ranveer than Ranbir. He then revealed that it was director Rajkumar Hirani who wanted Ranbir to play Dutt.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra told The Telegraph, “It was Raju’s idea to cast Ranbir. When he told me about Ranbir, I wasn’t happy at all. I thought someone else, like Ranveer Singh, could play this role much better. I thought Ranveer had the flamboyance, the emotional depth as well as the ability to change himself completely to play Sanjay Dutt. But Raju was adamant that Ranbir would be perfect. And when we started shooting and Ranbir became Sanjay Dutt, I had to kind of eat my words. I think I can best sum this up by saying that Ranbir has become Sanjay Dutt both in swagger and soul.”

Looks like after Ranbir went an extra mile to look and feel the part, everyone is convinced about him fitting the bill totally including the makers.

'Sanju' has been directed by Rajkumar Hirani and has an ensemble star cast with the likes of Ranbir playing the titular role of Dutt. It stars Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Anushka Sharma, Karishma Tanna, Jim Sarbh to name a few.

Expectations are high from this one as Ranbir has put in a lot of hard work to completely transform himself into looking like the real-life Dutt. The teaser and trailer received a positive response and now all eyes set for the big release.

The film will be hitting the screens on June 29, 2018.
