New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film 'Raees' has been making the headlines since quite a few days now, all thanks to its powerful trailer. A lot of people are saying that the movie is based on underworld figure Abdul Latif's life.
But, apparently, all such talks are not true at all.
"In view of certain media reports that claim that the film 'Raees' is based on a real-life story and rumours to that effect being circulated, we take this opportunity to clarify that the Story of the film 'Raees' is a pure work of fiction, Not based on any person; living or dead," the makers said in a statement.
They added, "all those making such claims, will realise it themselves, once they see the film. It is an imagined crime thriller set against the backdrop of Gujarat.”
It turns out that the flick does not hold any resemblance to the life of Latif, who structured his empire around illicit liquor.
The Rahul Dholakia directorial will be releasing on January 25 next year. It also stars Mahira Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in prominent roles.
The trailer of 'Raees' has gone viral on the social media and it is also receiving a lot of appreciation from the Internet users.
