New Delhi: Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif's upcoming Disney venture 'Jagga Jasoos' is ready for release on July 14, 2017. The film has been much delayed and will finally be hitting the screens soon.

"We have left the film on a cliffhanger, where it needs a part two or three. If they accept it, then we would love to take the character and the genre forward," PTI quoted Ranbir as saying.

Interestingly, Ranbir has also turned producer with this film. "In the first year when we were working on the film, we thought about a TV show, a prequel like 'Junior Jagga' or a spin-off. But the film took a lot of time and it was a hard film to make", he added.

Further, he said, "It took three-and-a-half years to make the film. We were surrounded by a lot of negativity, like why the film is taking so much time, about Katrina and myself. But we just went with the right intention."

"These films were Dada's (director Anurag Basu) inspiration as a child and they were my inspiration as well. There is no similarity between 'Tintin' and 'Jagga Jasoos' other than the fact that they are on the mission and there is a case that he has to solve. I think it is the hairstyle that people are connecting to more. But I would like to believe that it is an original film," says the actor.

Ranbir, 34, says when 'Barfi!' released similar stuff was written about the film which really hurt Basu.

"It was an open inspiration kind of a film and he was not hiding it. So, I think he has taken it up as a challenge to make a new film which has no references and you will not be able to compare it with anything. People don't know what the film is about, so there are a lot of things being written," he says.

It was during the making of "Barfi!" that both Ranbir and Anurag decided to collaborate again.

"We were going to work on a Kishore Kumar biopic but that did not materialise. I told dada, 'let's make a detective film' and he came up with the idea of a musical, a film for kids, a Disney film in its purest form and adventure genre like 'Indiana Jones' and 'Tintin', etc. I felt this genre is exciting to act and produce."

Talking about his tryst as a producer, he added, "To become a producer, you require a certain skill set, it's a professional job and I am not good at it. I am not a people's person, I can't manage people, I can't get things done. I am a little lazy as well. So I am happy with my job as an actor. I would like to direct a film one day. But at the same time, I am extremely grateful that I have my name in the credit (list- as producer) on a film like 'Jagga Jasoos' that is breaking the boundaries, the barriers of genres."

However, he does clarify that delays in 'Jagga Jasoos' is not the reason behind his decision to not produce films in future.

He is co-producing the film with Anurag and has floated a company with him called Picture Shuru Productions. Disney is also one of the producers of the movie.
