Hyundai has officially introduced the 2016 sixth-generation Elantra in India. The sedan has been priced at Rs 12.99 lakh for the base petrol variant, while top-end diesel automatic costs Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). It comes with a brand-new petrol engine and platform, along with an adaptation of Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. Save for the facelifts, the Elantra’s segment has not seen any new offering off late, and this might give the Koreans a good start. Here’s what the 2016 Elantra has to offer in India.

    The automatic headlights offer HID (high-intensity discharge) lighting, along with LED daytime running lights and LED positioning lamps; the tail lamps offer split LED lighting

    The dashboard comes with an all-black layout with silver accents, and the cabin is upholstered in black leather along with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob
    Dual-zone climate control is on offer along with front seat ventilation and rear AC vents

    Except the base variant, Hyundai’s latest 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation is standard; the infotainment system offers capacitive touch and offers connectivity solutions such as USB, AUX-in, and Bluetooth, along with support for both Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto
    The base variant comes with a five-inch touchscreen infotainment system without navigation
    The 8.0-inch infotainment system is coupled to a four-speaker and two-tweeter audio system, while the 5.0-inch comes only with a four-speaker system
    Auto cruise control is on offer

Safety

    Dual front airbags are standard, while the side and curtain airbags are offered solely with the top-end optional automatic variants
    ABS (anti-lock braking system) and EBD (electronic brake force distribution) are also standard across the variant range
    Other safety features include ESC (electronic stability control), VSM (vehicle stability management) and HAC (hill start assist control)
    The infotainment system offers support for the rear camera; it also features rear parking sensors
