New Delhi: Notwithstanding the constant rise in petrol and diesel prices which has affected the sale of cars in the country, India’s top car selling company, Maruti Suzuki is likely to launch its best selling segment, Alto 800 with a CNG option.

As the launch of the Alto 800 gets closer by the day, there are already reports and speculations that the ‘People’s Car’ will reinstate its position as the best-selling car with the CNG version.

According to reports, Maruti Suzuki sold 17,500 units of Alto in July 2012 compared to the over 24,000 units that it sold in July 2011; numbers falling due to the hiked in prices of fuel. In fact, the sales of Alto was overtaken by Swift in April, 2012, as the highest selling model in India, added the report.

Thus, to regain the status it was known for, Maruti Suzuki is looking forward to launching the CNG version of the Alto 800, as per reports.

The CNG version Alto 800 is expected to be costlier by an odd Rs 30,000.
