Delhi: It had earlier been reported that actor-singer Jennifer Lopez would be performing at the opening ceremony of the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on April 2, 2013. However, seems like Indian fans of the ‘Waiting for tonight’ hitmaker will not be lucky enough to see her perform live this time around.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment was supposed to have roped in Jennifer Lopez for the opening ceremony of IPL 6. However, sources have informed a leading daily that JLo might not be able to make it to the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata due to date issues.
An official said, “It is true that we still don`t have the confirmation of Jennifer Lopez till now. She was very excited initially but now she has cited date issues. However, SRK has not given up and we are trying to convince her. We are expecting a confirmation within three days.
“We are trying to convince JLO`s manager to help work it out because we have seven more days to get things going. Shah Rukh is still optimistic,” added the official.
The real issue, however, seems to be something else altogether. As per reports, the US channel that exclusively covers Jennifer Lopez’s performances have asked the actress to shell out a huge amount of money in order to hand over the rights of her IPL opening ceremony act to the Indian channel covering the same.
Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone will be seen shaking their legs on the IPL Opening stage.
