Review: ‘Dunno Y…Na Jaane Kyon’ defies all logic

Directed by Sanjay Sharma and starring Yuvraaj Parasher, Zeenat Aman, Kabir Bedi, Helen, Maradona Rebello, Kapil Sharma and Hazel, ‘Dunno Y…Na Jaane Kyon’ defies all logic, all thanks to a corny script and equally poor performances. The film is colossally inept when it comes to direction and a classic case of bad cinema. For starters, the title justifies the fate of the flick for the audience ends up scratching their heads to find out what exactly is going on in the film. ‘Dunno Y…Na Jaane Kyon’ is the story of a dysfunctional family where Margaret D’Souza’s (Helen) son Peter (Kabir Bedi) leaves his family to fend for itself. Now, Peter’s son Ashley (Kapil Sharma) is a married gay man who has an affair with a male prostitute. If Ashley finds love in another man, his wife Jenny (Rituparno Sengupta) carries a clandestine affair with Ashley’s brother Sam (Maradona Rebello) and her mother-in-law Rebecca (Zeenat Aman) sleeps with rich men to make ends meet. Even as director Sanjay Sharma makes an appeal for recognising and tolerating same sex love, the movie ends up being a farce in the name of sensitising LGBT issues. Armed with a pedestal storyline (writer-actor Kapil Sharma clearly lacks imagination) and lame acting, even Zeenat and Helen fail to add vigour to the film. Check out Zeenat mouthing drab lines in wooden manner. A poor script and shoddy acting makes ‘Dunno Y…Na Jaane Kyon’ a huge dud. Watch the film only if you want to spoil your weekend. Ratings: One poor cheer!
