Vishal Dadlani gets nominated for a song he didn’t sing!

Vishal has been nominated in the Best Singer category for ‘Chhammak Challo’ in two of the awards, when in reality the composer has not sung it!

Mumbai: This could be termed as the faux pas of the season. Singer-composer Vishal Dadlani of Vishal-Shekhar fame has been nominated in the Best Singer category for ‘Chhammak Challo’ in two of the awards, when in reality the composer has just composed the song and not sung it!
The song which became an instant hit last year has been sung by international artist AKON and the music has been given by Vishal-Shekhar. But Filmfare and Apsara awards have nominated Vishal along with Akon in the Best Playback (Male) Category. An amused Dadlani tweeted on Wednesday, “I am nominated for the Best Vocals for Chhammak Challo at both, the Filmfare and Apsara Awards. Funnily, I HAVEN’T SUNG on the song. At all!(sic)” Perhaps bombarded by questions, Vishal deleted the tweet later and wrote, “No disrespect to Filmfare and Apsara. They are run by friends and colleagues. Honest mistake. I was just setting the record straight.(sic)” Probably the jury got confused between ‘Chhammak Challo’ and “Criminal’, another track in ‘RA.One’ which has been sung by AKON and Vishal. And now that the composer has clarified, will his name be struck off the nomination list? Or will he get credit for song he didn’t sing? Jury members, please make a note.
