PETA slams Olsen twins for $17K fur backpack

Twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have drawn the ire of the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for releasing a 16900-dollar backpack made from animal fur.

New York: Twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have drawn the ire of the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for releasing a 16900-dollar backpack made from animal fur.
The former child actors have created the bag for their luxury fashion line, ‘The row’, which is made out of patches of animal fur. “What the Olsens lack in creativity, they try to make up for in shock value,” the New York Daily News quoted PETA as saying in a statement to Eonline.com. “ Sadly, it’s the foxes, calves, and alligators—who often have the fur ripped off them while they are still conscious and able to feel pain—who pay the dearest price,” the statement read. Despite the criticism, it seems that celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe liked the bag, which she called “a fashion favorite” that combines “comfort with class.” “Coupled with a blush blouse, skinny jeans and a bold boot, an of-the-moment backpack will bear the weight of your everyday essentials with elegance and ease,” she wrote on the her blog The Zoe Report. In June, the designers were named Womenswear Designer of the Year by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. But the animal rights group still prefers calling them `Trollsen Twin.` “If it looks like a troll and acts like a troll, it’s probably a Trollsen Twin,” the group added. ANI
