ABC’s axed ‘Charlie’s Angels’ on its way to TV heaven

ABC has halted the production of new version of ‘Charlie’s Angels,’ leaving the critically lambasted show’s future in doubt.

New York: ABC has halted the production of new version of ‘Charlie’s Angels,’ leaving the critically lambasted show’s future in doubt.
Though the company has not yet announced cancellation of the remake of the classic series, odds are that series star Minka Kelly is now off for the winter, just like former boyfriend and Yankee star Derek Jeter, the New York Daily News reported.
ABC officials said they’ll continue to air original episodes of the show, but for how long hasn’t been set. Seven episodes plus the series pilot have been shot, with four episodes having aired to date. The series, which stars Kelly, Rachael Taylor and Annie Ilonzeh drew 8.7 million viewers in its debut in September, but the audience numbers have dropped ever since. Initially, there had been high hopes for the updated version of ‘Charlie’s Angels,’ which originally aired from 1976 to 1981 and helped make Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith household names. However, the new show didn’t hold up on any level creatively and was widely considered a candidate to be the first show of the season cancelled. ANI
