Katy Perry’s parents feel divorce from Brand ‘gift from God’

London: Katy Perry’s evangelical parents believe their daughters’ divorce was a gift from God to help them fill churches.

Pastors Keith and Mary Hudson preached for 90 minutes to 300 worshippers in their first service since Perry’s marriage with comedian Russell Brand broke down. “I’m sure Katy is trending on the Internet just to get you to church tonight,” the Sun quoted her as saying at the packed Church on the Rise congregation in Westlake, Ohio. “I mean all over the world, who knows how God is bringing them in? Perry’s father, Keith, grew emotional when talking about his daughter to the crowd. Chocking back tears, he urged worshippers not to be ‘judgmental’ if their children live different lifestyles to themselves. “I love my daughter and I will always love her. Stop being judgmental and critical. Do not close the doors to your loved ones, especially your children,” he said. “Just because they do not like what you do or what you are, they are still praying that you stay in the race. They are counting on you. “I believe in God, for every one of my children,” he said. ANI
