Mumbai: Veteran actor Pankaj Kapoor, who made his directorial debut with ‘Mausam’, feels that the length of the film went against it and had he got more time, he would have worked more on editing.
"It has been more than a year that the film has released. One thing what I feel is, if I had got an opportunity to delay the release for two to three months, then I would have sensed the objectivity of the product and so I would have been able to do a better edit job," Pankaj told IANS.
"I think the film was 15 to 20 minutes longer for today`s audience. These are the two things that I definitely realise," he added.
However, Pankaj has taken the failure in a very positive way.
"As far as the creativity of the film is concerned, even at the cost of sounding silly I would say we with our honesty went to tell a nice story in a good way but not everything that you do in life is successful and not everything that you do in life is appreciated," he said.
"I don`t say `Mausam` should have been a super hit. Somewhere down the line, there must be something missing in the film but when I make my next film, we will try not to repeat those mistakes," he added.
‘Mausam’ released in 2011 and featured Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor. Pankaj will now be seen in Vishal Bhardwaj`s ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’, which releases Jan 11.
