Govt says no to reconstruction of Delhi gang-rape on TV

New Delhi: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Friday advised entertainment channel Sony TV not to telecast a reconstruction of the brutal gang-rape of a 23-year-old Delhi girl that shook the whole country. Crime Patrol - Dastak, a show that`s hosted by Anup Soni, has dedicated two episodes to the incident, scheduled to be aired tonight and tomorrow. But the ministry has asked the channel to be sensitive to ground realities. The 23-year-old paramedical student was brutally raped by six men in a moving bus in south Delhi on December 16 and she died in a Singapore hospital on December 29, where she was being treated for the grievous injuries. The incident led to nationwide protests against rising crimes against women.
