Bollywood heads to Lion’s city to celebrate IIFA 2012!

As Singapore gears up to roll out the green carpet, the Bollywood gliteratti looks set to rock the 13th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA 2012) weekend which kicks off tonight.

Mumbai: As Singapore gears up to roll out the green carpet, the Bollywood gliteratti looks set to rock the 13th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA 2012) weekend which kicks off tonight.
The bigwigs of B-town were seen leaving for IIFA awards last night to attend the mega event. Bollywood actors Shahid Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, Sridevi were spotted at the Mumbai airport. Bipasha Basu, Chitrangada Singh, Shriya Saran, TV actor Rashmi Desai Sandhu, Karan Thakkar, Randhir Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor, and film director Ramesh Sippy were also spotted at the Mumbai airport on Tuesday night. Shahid, who will be co-hosting IIFA with Farhan Akhtar, will promote his new movie ‘Teri Meri Kahaani’ and will also perform to a medley of hit Tamil songs. Talking to media he said that he was happy to be back at IIFA after eight years and promised that his anchoring would be filled with gags. Boney Kapoor was seen at the airport with his wife Sridevi and daughters Jahnavi and Khushi. Feeling proud of his son Arjun Kapoor’s successful debut in ‘Ishaqzaade’, Boney said that he was looking forward to the joint performance of Rishi and Ranbir at the IIFA! Among others who left for the biggest Bollywood show to the Lion’s city included actors Diya Mirza, Prateik, Sonu Sood, Pooja Mishra and Gauhar Khan. This edition of IIFA is focused on providing a platform to new and fresh talent, said Sabbas Joseph, director of organisers Wizcraft International Entertainment. “The freshness in this year’s edition is across multiple perspectives. It is a much younger approach, something that represents the youth of the country on global platform,” Joseph stated. True to its approach, the gala will see young and budding talent taking centrestage. Watch out for Shahid and Farhan Akhtar who look all set to entertain the audience with their wit and humour. Moments after arriving IIFA venue, Farhan tweeted, “Arrived in Singapore for the IIFA weekend. A big shout out to all fans here. Time to get the show rolling.(sic)”
