My inspiration is Amitabh Bachchan: Rakesh Bedi

Rakesh Bedi says he is inspired by megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

Mumbai: Rakesh Bedi has been entertaining audiences through films, TV and theatre for the past 35 years and the actor says he is inspired by megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
"My inspiration is Bachchan `saab`. I don`t follow his acting but his dedication and sincerity for his craft. The way he has moulded his career, his punctuality and discipline is commendable," Bedi told PTI.
Bedi, who started his career as a supporting actor in the 1979 film `Hamare Tumhare` starring Sanjeev Kumar, went on to act in over 150 films and many TV serials. But the actor said that he does not like to rate his erformances. "I don`t believe in the concept of rating one`s performance. For me all the shows and films that I have worked in are special and will remain so," he said. Asked about his dream role, Bedi said, "I don`t live with the expectation and hope of a dream role. I rather enjoy what is there on my platter." The actor also said that he will never appear on any reality show. "I will never take part of reality shows. Many channels approach me for shows but I reject all the offers," he said. Bedi`s bio boasts of some memorable works like the 1981 film `Chashme Buddoor` and several hit TV serials such as `Shrimaan Shrimati` in which he played Dilruba, Mohan Srivastava in 1999 hit series `Yes Boss` and also `Hum Sab Ek Hain`. The actor, best known for playing the happy-go-lucky, unemployed younger brother Raja in `Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi` will be next seen on the small screen playing a father of five daughters in Sony`s new show `Shubh Vivaah`. Bedi said that with this show, he wants to break free from his comic image. "With this role I want to break free from my comic image. I play a man whose wife has died and he raises his five daughters single handedly. He tries to get his daughters married and see them have a happy conjugal life. It is emotionally very challenging to portray this character," he said. The show also stars Eijaz Khan, who will make a comeback on TV after his big screen venture "Tanu weds Manu". PTI
