In mood for something amazingly gripping and hilarious? Then, you must catch director Steven Soderbergh’s ‘The Informant’. The movie starring Matt Damon is based on a true story, that of the highest-ranking corporate whistleblower in US history. Matt Damon’s put some effort and it’s evident. The actor, who’d put on 30 pounds to play Mark Whitacre, a top executive at an agricultural corporation (engaging in a multinational price-fixing scam) excels in each bit. Set in the early 80s, the film tracks every move of Whitacre as he unravel his company`s malpractices to the FBI. He goes to the extent of agreeing to become a secret agent himself. But what comes as a surprise is the fact that Mark is himself found to have misused over USD 9 million from corporate treasury. The film has a superb comic backdrop with every scene being a gem. Damon is excellent as Mark, and shows that he can do any role under the sun with an astonishing ease. An absolute must watch this weekend! Rating: Three cheers.
