Actual location of ‘Simpsons’ town of Springfield revealed after 23 seasons

Matt Groening, the creator of ‘Simpsons’, has finally revealed that Springfield in Oregon is the basis for the hometown of the characters of the show.

London: Matt Groening, the creator of ‘Simpsons’, has finally revealed that Springfield in Oregon is the basis for the hometown of the characters of the show.
Evergreen Terrace, the fictitious town of Springfield somewhere within the US, has played home to Homer, Marge, and the rest of the Simpsons clan for 23 seasons.
The admission came in an interview with Smithsonian Magazine’s May issue, published online on Tuesday. Groening told the magazine that he was inspired by the television show ‘Father Knows Best’, which took place in a place called Springfield. Springfield, Oregon, is 100 miles south of Groening’s hometown of Portland. According to him, he has long given fake answers when asked about the Simpsons’ hometown. He told the magazine it was because “I don’t want to ruin it for people, you know?” “Whenever people say it’s Springfield, Ohio, or Springfield, Massachusetts, or Springfield, wherever, I always go, “Yep, that’s right’,” the Daily Mail quoted him as saying. The animated comedy, which has been on air a staggering 23 years, has made a running joke about Springfield’s location, dangling false clues in front of fans, only to contradict its information in later episodes.
