Theatre, jazz at Nuns N Roses concert in Goa

Despite its name `Nuns N Roses`, there were no head-banging nuns at a unique concert-cum-theatre performance in the honour of Sister Christobel, one of Mother Teresa`s most well-known protégés.

Panaji: Despite its name `Nuns N Roses`, there were no head-banging nuns at a unique concert-cum-theatre performance in the honour of Sister Christobel, one of Mother Teresa`s most well-known protégés.
The event held in the heart of Panaji chronicled the life of Sister Christobel, a pillar of the Missionaries of Charity, an order started in India by the late Albanian-born Christian missionary Mother Teresa.
"The concert is a free show. It aims to spread awareness on the work being carried out selflessly by Sister Christobel`s Trust. The trust has been able to support and help hundreds of homeless people, including children and the elderly, who were abandoned on the streets," said Mumbai-born Annabelle Ferro, director of a play, which is part of the concert. The Trust runs two Mother Teresa`s Roses homes in Goa, where abandoned children are raised and cared for, apart from running similar operations in Mumbai. A 22-piece German Jazz ensemble The Phoenix Foundation Big Band and Indian classical musicians Ramamani and Ramesh Shotham also performed at the concert. IANS
