`Bunty Aur Babli` to be remade in English?

Uday Chopra is remaking `Bunty Aur Babli` in English and is hoping to rope in Taylor Swift.

Mumbai: Uday Chopra is remaking superhit Hindi `Bunty Aur Babli` in English and is hoping to rope in Canadian actor Michael Cera and American country singer and occasional actress Taylor Swift to play the main leads.
The remake is being made by Chopra`s recently-launched company `YRF Entertainment` in the US to produce English films.
"I am remaking `Bunty Aur Babli` in English. It`s in the scripting stage and the casting is not done. I am looking at Michael Cera and Tailor Swift. I haven`t approached them as yet, but I want to make it a little more quirky and comic than the Indian one," Uday told reporters here last evening. "I have certain ideas for other films. As of now, I feel that the only film which went best with the sensibilities of the west was `Bunty Aur Babli`," he said. Produced by Aditya and Yash Chopra, `Bunty Aur Babli` featured Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee in the lead. The 2005 superhit film is about two lovable crooks, who venture into many adventures like faking the sale of Taj Mahal. Uday clarifies that the production house will go for an international cast and crew for the films that they make there. "The idea is not to take Indian actors there. The idea is to think of ourselves as an American company. Writers, directors everyone will be from there. I don`t want them to feel that I am taking India to Hollywood. If a story requires an Indian character or if A R Rahman agrees to do my music, I will like it," he said. Last year Yash Raj Films forayed into the international market by launching a Hollywood-based production and financing company YRF Entertainment to produce international content. YRF Entertainment is funded by Yash Raj Films, the 41-year-old studio that was founded by filmmaker Yash Chopra. His younger son Uday serves as the CEO of YRF Entertainment. "I want to make lighter comedies right now. I can do drama films later on, but not right now. Sci-fi and comedy films do well. If I try to make dramas, I won`t do well. This is one of the reasons why I don`t want to as of now," Uday said. Now that Uday is heading the YRF Entertainment in the US, he wants to focus on film production like his elder brother Aditya, and not on acting. "I am concentrating on the production part. I am taking a backseat in terms of acting. I might just do a film here or there, but mostly, I will be behind the camera. I feel that this is the next thing I can do. I felt that I can`t go beyond a certain point," Uday said. "I cannot become an Aamir khan today, I know that. I can`t become that big a star no matter what I do. I am ambitious and I want something more and try something new. Maybe doing what my father has always done might be lucky for me," he said. PTI
