London: Arnold Schwarzenegger’s has revealed in his autobiography that he made admiring comments about Adolf Hitler in high esteem - but only for his speaking abilities.
The 65-year-old actor’s controversial comments about Hitler were made during a discussion with George Butler, while he was filming the 1977 documentary ‘Pumping Iron,’ the Daily Mail reported.
“I philosophized that only a few men are born to lead, while the rest of humanity is born to follow, and went from that into discussing history’s great conquerors and dictators,” the New York Daily News quoted him as saying in his book, ‘Total Recall.’ “I admired Hitler’s speaking ability, though not what he did with it,” he wrote. However, the ‘Terminator’ star denied saying those comments during a late-night news conference at Los Angeles’ Century Plaza Hotel in 2003, while he was campaigning to become Governor of California. His Hitler comments never made it into the final cut of the film, but his words taken from the transcript of his interview with Butler surfaced when ABC News and the New York Times received copies of an unpublished book proposal. In the original interview, he had allegedly said, “I admired Hitler, for instance, because he came from being a little man with almost no formal education, up to power.” “I admire him for being such a good public speaker and for what he did with it,” he added.
