New Delhi: The telecom watchdog has come out with a mobile app that will help consumers monitor 3G or 4G internet speed on their smartphones.

The app called MySpeed app can be downloaded from the government-run Mobile Seva App store.

The application is expected to be officially launched on July 5. It works on on any smartphone supported by Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) or newer versions launched after that.

The app will also help users direct the results on coverage, data speed, network information along with device and its location (of test) to the trai's analytics portal.

In most of the speed tests conducted by trai, it was found out that none of the operators were able to meet the quality they promised to the consumers.
