Hello and welcome to the second game of the Nidahas T20I tri-series between India and Bangladesh from Colombo. LIVE SCORECARD India lost the tri-series opener against Sri Lanka on Tuesday by five wickets after Kusal Perera's assault on the Indian bowlers that saw him blaze away to 66 off 37 balls. Rohit Sharma and the team management will look to address the problems in both batting and bowling departments. Shikhar Dhawan scored 90 off 49 balls but an average effort at the other end left India at least 20 runs short. Young batsman Rishabh Pant will be particularly under the scanner after he alarmingly struggled against the Lankan spinners on Tuesday. In the bowling department, apart from Yuzvendra Chahal and Washinton Sundar, the rest, especially Shardul Thakur, left a lot to be desired. India can't afford another defeat today as it will jeopardise their 'final' chances a great deal.  

India have restricted Bangladesh to 139 in 20 overs. It might look a under-par score but Indian batsmen will have to apply themselves in the middle to get across the line. The wicket is slower than that used in the previous game. From Bangladesh, Liton Das and Sabbir Rehman scored thirties each while Jaydev Unadkat and Vijay Shankar ended with three and two-wicket spells respectively.

Rubel will take the ball to defend three runs. Pandey nudges him for a single. Dinesh Karthik takes another. India win by six wickets with 8 balls to spare.

Fizz bowling his fourth now. Pandey shows his clever thinking. Knows Fizz will be bowling his slower leg-cutters. Stands deep in the crease and guides the slower through third man for a boundary. In international cricket, you continuously have to toy with bowler's mind in order to make him bowl to your strengths. Pandey goes to the other end with a single. Four more!!! Pandey backs away and punches it through cover boundary. Brilliant batting. India 137/4 in 18 overs. Three needed now.

The difference between India and Bangladesh has been the number of dot balls. While Bangladesh's number will be way high than that of India, 57, it has hurt their cause. Meanwhile, Dhawan holes it to lon-on to depart on 55 off 43 balls. India lose their fourth wicket. That was unnecessary. Taskin, of all the bowlers, gets a wicket. All through this while, he has looked out of sorts and such irresponsible shots can bring a bowler back. But guess Bangladesh doesn't have the cushion to turn things around. Too late. India 126/4 in 17 overs. Need 14 off 18 balls.

Najmul in. After bowling two good ball, he lands a half tracker. Pandey unleashes a devastating pull for a boundary. That is poor bowling. India 120/3 in 16 overs. Need 20 runs off 24 balls.

Out!!! Rubel strikes. India lose Raina. He is gone to that short ball once again. It will be the umpteenth time he has lost his wicket trying to fend-pull. He hops like a kangaroo in the crease. India lose their third. Manish Pandey walks in. Off the mark with a ramp of Rubel and Fizz does it well to save two runs at third man. The short ball though has seen climbing towards the batsmen. Rubel certainly has the pace to rear it up. India 13/3 in 15 overs.

Hey is the Bangladesh camp reading this blog or what? Wishful thinking. They have got Najmul in now. Four!! Dhawan reaches fifty in 35 balls, tapping a wide delivery through fine-leg. This is his sixth T20 fifty. Next ball, Dhawan survives as Mushfiqur misses a stumping chance. That is why main bowlers can make chances. India reach 108/2 in 14 overs.

Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah to try his luck against India's set pair with his dibbly-dobbly off-spins. Six!!! Dhawan clobbers a half-tracker over mid-wicket now. you can't bowl short to huim. he rocks back and gives a perfect finish. I have a question. why are they not Najmul, the left-arm spinner? Just because he will be bowling to two lefties doesn't make him an ordinary bowler. Anyway, India stroll to 99/2 in 13 overs.

Fizz returns for his third. Dhawan steps out and puts enough bat on the ball to see it land safely for a single. Raina, though seems to have introduced a new approach to batting in his comeback. While most coaching manuals would tell you to move towards off, Raina, before each ball makes room for himself, clears his front leg and waits to play every ball square on the off. So far so good. Meanwhile, Fizz concedes five runs. India reach 88/2 in 12 overs.

Mehedi Hasan to bowl his final over. Seemingly, his length has been perfect. And bowls a perfect over too. Finishes with figures of 4-021-0. Oh wait !! Bangladesh have asked for a review against Shikhar Dhawan. The Indian shimmied down the track but the ball seemed to be missing leg-stump. The review says that too but since it turned out to be umpire's call, Bangladesh retain review. India 83/2 in 11 overs.

Soumya Sarkar will begin with his military mediums. Finds the length straightaway. Dhawan charges at him and steals a single at mid-off. India certainly know the importance of rotating strike. Sarkar shows anger and bowls a bouncer well over Raina's head for a wide. Four!!! Raina makes room on the final delivery and lofts Sarkar over cover for a boundary. India 81/2 in 10 overs. Bangladesh were 69/3.

Bangladesh continue with Mehedi Hasan. He seems to have a taken a cue from Chahal. Bowling from a step back in the crease but Indians are smarter and doesn't leave an opportunity for a single unlike Bangladesh batters. Mehedi has bowled a brilliant over but India sneak away with five runs still. India 73/2 in 9 overs.

Six!!! Dhawan deposits it over fine-leg for a six. What is Taskin thinking? He certainly hasn't seen Dhawan's video from the last game. He had hit three sixes off that same length at fine-leg. Four!! Same ball, same shot but a boundary. Dhawan just dismisses it a short-arm pull, like a slap. This is average bowling by Taskin. Concedes 13 runs. India will be very happy with that. India 68/2 in 8 overs.

Six!!! Raina plants his foot early and picks Mehedi's length, slog sweeps him over mid-wicket fence. Couple of singles to add to that and India show how to do it. India 55/2 in 7 overs.

Out!! Now Rishabh Pant plays on. Rubel signals India's second wicket on the first delivery of the sixth over. Pant was looking extremely impatient and threw his bat on a widish delivery. Suresh Raina joins Shikhar Dhawan. Starts his inning with a tight single as he dives to make his crease. Four!! That is Dhawan for you. Rubel tests him with a half-tracker and Dhawan slaps him in front of midwicket. Dropped!! Raina this time at leg-slip. It went too fast and Mehedi Hasan fluffs it. India 47/2 in 6 overs. Lot of action in this over though. Bangladesh were 44 at this stage.

Two left-handers and Bangladesh bring offie Mehedi Hasan in. Bowls couple of good balls to start with but as soon Dhawan takes strike, he sweeps a wide ball between square-leg and fine-leg for a boundary. Follows it up with a single. Intelligent cricket there. Bangladesh failed to show that when they batted. India 40/1 in 5 overs.

Fizz is back. Change of ends for him. Out!!! Rohit is gone. Plays on. Gets out to his nemesis once again. They both go a long way back in rivalry. Fizz gets him here as well. Rohit's poor run continues. Actually, it was too close to play the cut shot. And Rishabh Pant has been promoted to No. 3. He seemed to have struggled a bit in the middle order last game but with pace at his disposal, he certainly could have opportunities to score at a quick pace. Four!! Pant gets off the mark with a boundary over wide long-on with a flick. India get six off Fizz and reach 33/1 in 4 overs.

Fizz is replaced by Rubel Hossain in the 3rd over. That was quick and Rohit manages to get his bat down in time. Takes the outside edge and finds a four through thirdman. However, it is a little strange to remove Fizz out of the attack. He has been Bangladesh's stock bowler and they must use him to get early damage, only if they think. Woohoo!!!. Hossain is bowling really quick. This ball flies off the surface and Rohit is surprised. Hossain's slingy action certainly helps him with pace but also costs his extras as well. But this over, he has certainly troubled Rohit with his slight movement. Nine again. India 27/0 in 3 overs.

Taskin Ahmed bowls a beauty of a bowl first up. It leaves Rohit Sharma on the up. Rohit's half-cock stride puts him in an awkward position as he doesn't reaches the pitch of the ball. Four!! Taskin loses control, short of length, Rohit swivels back and pulls him in front of square for four. Four!! This time Taskin goes wider of off and Rohit cuts it for a boundary. India 18/0 in 2 overs.

We are back again: Mushfiqur the 'fizz' has the ball and Rohit Sharma on strike. Begins with a single to thirdman. Come Shikhar Dhawan. Plays a perfect square cut for a boundary. What a nice shot to open the account. He is in such sublime form that you can't simply afford to offer him width. Fizz alters his length and line immediately, that is say within the corridor. Not up, not too short, just the perfect length. India 9/0 in 1 over.

Thakur to bowl the final over. Starts with a quick 140kmph delivery that zips past the batsman. Out!! Run Out!! Look what Bangladesh have been up to. They can't bat properly and now they have decided to run themselves down. By no standards was that a second. Suresh Raina takes his time, aims and throws it to perfection. Thakur clips the bails off. Thakur bowls the knuckle ball and loses the grip completely. Bangladesh 139/8 in 20 overs. India need 140 to win.

Unadkat bowls it in Taskin's range and the Bangladesh pacer takes a wild swing. Gets a boundary on leg. He follows it up with a single. Six!! Now Unadkat loses his length again, rolls his fingers over but is short of good length. Gives time to Sabbir and he pulls it for a maximum. Unadkat is under-pressure clearly, hurls couple of wides. Unadkat gets his third. Out!! Sabbir edges it to the keeper. But he asks for the review. Snicko confirms the spike and Sabbir has to make the long walk back on 30 off 25. Nice little cameo though. Unadkat has been expensive according to today' s game but three wickets will certainly provide him some relief.  Bangladesh 134/7 in 19 overs.

What a boring game this is turning out to be. Bangladesh are swinging like they are swatting flies. Thakur has bowled three dot balls. Next three yield two runs. Bangladesh 121/6 in 18 overs.

Yes, Unadkat does have a brilliant slower one but off-late he has struggled with his line. Bowls it wide and Sabbir square cuts it to perfection for a boundary. Adjusts his length the next but bowls a bouncer which is declared as wide. Out!! now. The moment he doesn't offer width, success comes to Unadkat. Mehedi Hasan miscues a pull and Manish Pandey completes the proceedings. Unadkat gets his second wicket. Sometimes I feel that Unadkat's over-reliance on slower deliveries ditches him. He has a brillinat high-arm action and can take his pace near 140k's. Also when he hits the deck hard, he gets a steep bounce which is not easy to handle. The wicket makes the point valid. Bangladesh 119/6 in 17 overs.

India's wicket-taker is back. Chahal bowls a flighted slow delivery. Out!! Liton Das almost double-jumps out and still doesn't quite reach to the pitch of the ball. Balloons a mishit to long-off and Suresh Raina corrects his mistake by catching him. Usually, Chahal's heel touches the popping crease and he oversteps quite a lot but today he has made sure he is bowling from way bak. Consequently the ball is not reaching the batsman but the length seems to be absolutely fine. Bangladesh have to work harder. 111/5 in 16 overs.

Shankar is bowling his final over now. He has been bowling that shot length for a while now. At his pace, the ball is not coming off the pitch as Bangladesh expect it to. But he has decieved them by bowling a fuller ball immediately after couple of short length balls. Mixing it up well. Dropped!!! Shankar himself but that is a brilliant effort. Diving full length at mid-wicket but fails to pouch that. Misses out on third wicket. The ball was pitch up with fingers rolled over it and slightly wide of off-stump. Sabbir Rahman looks to the heavens. Wait there!! Shankar seems to have been struggling now. Bowls two wides and a no-ball. Free hit for Bangladesh. Sabbir Rehman plays a paddle sweep over fine-leg to collect a much-needed boundary. Bangladesh 107/4 in 15 overs.

Sunder bowls an 11-run over including a boundary by Liton Das. Bangladesh 94/4 in 14 overs.

Thakur back now. The short ball is rearing up to the batsmen. Two pulls and both miscued ones. But they seem to be only waiting for the range delivery, on which they can make room and clear the infield. No Plan B other than that. Singles and doubles could also help their cause. But Bangladesh certainly doesn't believe in that theory. Thakur bowls it up the last delivery and Have Bangladesh heard me? Yes they certainly have. Sabbir Rahman caresses it through cover to find a boundary. Bangladesh 85/4 in 13 overs.

Bangladesh have been clearly lacking a plan. They still have nine overs to play and even classic T20 hitting could take past 140 but it is difficult to understand why every new batsman has to start by displaying an odd shot. Clean hitting can still help their cause. Sundar bowls another superb over meanwhile and concedes just three off his over. Bangladesh 75/2 in 12 overs.

Shankar bowls a no-ball. Bangladesh get a free-hit. While Shankar got away in Rahim's case as his foot justly managed to touch the popping crease but not this time. A wide follows but he saves himself from getting hit for a boundary and concedes just one. A 135kmph bouncer from Shankar now. This guy can bowl quick. He is looking sure-footed now with his lengths. Out !!!! Second wicket for Shankar now. Danger man and skipper Mahmudullah is gone. Shankar pitches it up, a little wide and Mahmudullah holes it to sweeper cover. That is poor batting at it's best. Bangladesh 72/4 in 11 overs.

Chahal comes back for the 10th over. He is bowling really slow and playing with the mind of the batsmen. They want a little pace from him but he is clever and doesn't provide that. On top of that, the wicket is even slower. Bangladesh 69/3 at the halfway stage.

The thing with these kinds of pitches is that you can't afford to go with the same mindset. what you expect might not come your way. So mixing it up and changing your length is the trick to survive here. Shankar though doesn't seem to care. Bangs it short and gets the treatment with a boundary through cover and later gets pummelled into the mid-wicket stands. Liton Das and Mishfiqur want those. Desperately. Mushfiqur steps out now and misses but there is a huge appeal for an edge and India straightaway go for the review. Out!!! There is definitely a big sound coming from the stump mic and the snicko confirms that. Mushfiqur departs on 18, Shankar gets his maiden wicket. He bowled this one up. Got the benefit. Bangladesh will rue this dismissal. 66/3 in 9 overs

Chahal looks in better control. Bowling it slower through the air. Mixing it up now and want Bangladesh to use their muscles to play shots. Just four runs off it. Bangladesh 55/2 in 8 overs.

Rohit is making quick changes. Vijay Shankar now into the attack. What is with Bangladesh today? All their edges have landed safely. Hey common!! Dropped !! you can't expect such a simple miss from Suresh Raina. He drops a sitter off the bat of Liton Das. Shankar could have got his first wicket. He has wait though. Dropped Again!!! Now Sundar fails to catch Das again at fine-leg. Bangladesh are happy. Bangladesh 51/2 in 7 overs.

Yuzvendra Chahal now takes the ball. The move is understandable as two right-handers are on strike. He starts well but concedes back-to-back boundaries on the 4th and 5th balls. Mushfiqur Rahim reverse hits him over point and follows it up with a slog sweep on mid-wicket. Bangladesh 44/2 in 6 overs.

Shardul Thakur into the attack now. And there is action straightaway. Tamim Iqbal has asked for a review as the umpire raises his finger of the third ball of the over. He had a doubt the ball pitched outside leg and he was right. Bangladesh retain their review. The fourth ball though is smoked through extra cover on the up. Classic shot that. Four again. He dances down the track, Shardul bangs it short and Tamim flat bats for a boundary through mid-off. Out!!! Now Thakur replies back in style. Bends his back hard and Tamim is surprised by the steep bounce. Miscues a pull to get out at short fine leg. Bangladesh two down now at 35/2 in 5 overs.

One thing is certain, batting will not be that easy on this pitch. It's slow and you have to take your chances to score briskly in the first six over. Sunder is clear with his length but Bangladesh seem to be losing it now. Could have been a perfect over had Sunder not dropped a little short. Liton Das plots his knee down and sweeps it over square-leg for a boundary. There will be no room for short pitchers here. Bangladesh 27/1 in 4 overs.

These are easy pickings for Sarkar. Unadkat strays onto the pads, and gets flicked for a six. But Bangladesh are showing intent and once again he steps out and balloons one over mid-off but it lands safely once again. He has some luck going for him. No wait. Lady luck gets angry and leaves him in a sudden. He flicks Unasdkat's delivery it through middle but Yuzvendra Chahal plucks low dipping catch at short fine leg. Great reflexes there. Bangladesh are one down and Unadkat can breathe now. The left-arm pacer is good with changing his pace but his line is a bother though. Bangladesh 22/1 in 3 overs.

Washington Sunder starts with a wide long hop. Gets due punishment as Sarkar smokes it through cover for a boundary. Otherwise it has been a great over. Some turn and variations helped Sunder to get back. The pitch looks dry a bit and there is caution for India straightaway. Apply in such conditions. Bangladesh 10/0 in 2 overs.

10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1: We have kicked off: Jaydev Unadkat will start for India once more. Bangladesh have sent experienced and regular openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar. The Saurashtra pacer will be expected to come up with an improved performance. Oh! Unadkat starts well and finds movement. Usually, bowlers will find movement early in the first innings, it s a fresh pitch and a lot of off-the-deck movement will be on display. Rohit Sharma and Dhawan were on the receiving end in the last game. Despite Unadkat getting to move the ball, he is struggling with the line. Dropped!!! Frustration straightaway, Sarkar gets a reprieve as his leading edge falls in between three fielders. Poor communication. Bangladesh 6/0 in 1 over.

By the way, don't take Bangladesh lightly as they have gone in with five specialist bowlers, making sure they have covered all their bases. With Mushfiqur Rahim in the bowling line-up, India certainly will face a stiff challenge. The only plus for India will be the pitch, which will ease up after the first innings. Taking the first game into account, Sri Lanka was helped by the flatness of the Premadasa pitch to a great extent. The ball wasn't holding so much and Kusal Perera could keep hitting through the line.

Here is the Toss update: India have won the toss and elected to bowl against Bangladesh in the second game of the Nidahas T20 Tri-series Trophy. India are going with an unchanged side. Rohit Sharma seemed to have taken a cue from the last game taking the Sri Lankan conditions in mind. Also, a set target helps a side to calculate better during a chase.
