New Delhi: Days after Peshawar Zalmi won the second edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL), Bollywood heartthrob Shah Rukh Khan has suggested a three-match series between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the new PSL champions.
While confirming the news to The Express Tribune, Zalmi’s CEO Javed Afridi also said that the Bollywood actor will talk to the Indian government regarding the same.
“Shah Rukh has asked me to talk to the Pakistani government and he will talk to the Indian government himself,” Afridi was quoted as saying by tribune.com.pk.
The venue of the match will be decided once the governments of both countries give their go-ahead for the proposed series.
Afridi added that if the series materialises, it could improve the relations between the two countries.
“And if the series against KKR materialises, I am sure it can help in improving relations between two countries as well.”
Last time India and Pakistan played a full bilateral series was in 2007. Pakistan, however, toured India for a short series in 2012.
Earlier, in PSL final 2017, Peshawar Zalmi rode on a 32-ball 40 by the in-form Kamran Akmal, who clobbered six fours and a six to reach 148 for six off their 20 overs.
Skipper Sammy hit two sixes in his 28 not out, while fellow West Indian paceman Rayad Emrit took 3-31 for Quetta.
In reply, Quetta were shot out for 90 after being rocked by left-arm spinner Mohammad Asghar, who finished with three for 16 in his four overs.
