Virat Kohli picks up injury in Ranchi, Ajinkya Rahane leads India against Australia — WATCH

New Delhi: Indian skipper Virat Kohli spent some time off the field, with ice packs wrapped on his right shoulder after landing awkwardly on Thursday.

In the 40th over of the Australia innings on Day 1 of the third Test in Ranchi, Kohli chased down a Peter Handscomb shot.

But he ended up landing awkwardly, injuring himself. He left the field, grimacing.

In his absence, Ajinkya Rahane led the side. But Kohli is expected to join the play soon, probably in the post Tea session.

Earlier, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first.
