New Delhi: Australia thrashed India by 333 runs inside three days in the first Test at Pune on Saturday. It was a complete performance from the visitors to breach the great Indian fortress.

But not many knew about the rigours Steve Smith & Co went through before the start of the series. They had a preparatory camp in Dubai, and hired consultants to help them succeed in India.

Besides, they have also devised plans to counter the brilliance of Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin — two of India's greatest match-winners in recent times.

Now after the match, it's safe to say that their plans have worked as Kohli endured failures in both the innings, scoring a duck and 13; and restricting Ashwin to a below-par performance by his own lofty standards.

By virtue of today's win, Aussies have taken a 1-0 lead in the four-match series. Second match of the series will be played at Bangalore, starting March 4.
