New Delhi: Former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Smith truly justified to the name of the tournament Honkong T20 Blitz, after he struck an incredible century off just 31 deliveries on Wednesday at Mission Road ground.

The 33-year-old all-rounder, who retired only a week ago from international cricket, notched up a total of 121 runs off 40 balls to guide his team Kowloon Cantons to victory. The team was charging against a massive total of 199 runs, but Smith's century was enough to shut City Kaitak's hope, who lost by eight wickets.

It was Kaitak's Nadeem Ahmed, who turned out to Smith's favourite bowler as he scored 28 runs off his first over and then again struck four sixes off his last over.

"For me, it was going on to the pitch and staying calm and positive and being confident," Smith said to South China Morning Post. "With the ground being small and the pitch being good, it was perfect for me score runs."

Smith, who made his last appearance for the national side at the 2015 World Cup, recently announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect.

The Caribbean batsman will play in the 2017 Indian Premier League (IPL) for Gujarat Lions.
