Playing in his 65th ODI match, the wicket-keeper batsman was a constant source of frustration for Aussie bowlers - hitting 16 sixes and 11 fours - to register his name in the record books.

De Kock posted two hundred-run stands for the first and second wickets for South Africa – first with Rilee Rossouw and and second with captain Faf du Plessis. The 145-run stand for first wicket came in just 17.1 overs. The second wicket stand of 23 runs came in 14.3 overs.

He has had an impressive record in ODIs for South Africa – scoring 11 centuries and 5 half centuries in 65 matches so far.

Quinton is now the holder of South Africa's second-highest individual score in ODI cricket with a career-best 178. Gary Kirsten still holds the No. 1 spot with his innings of 188 runs against UAE in Rawalpindi in 1996.
