NDMC relaunches website, e-mutation facility for taxpayers
The saffron party had swept the high-stakes election to three municipal corporations held on April 23, winning 181 of the total 272 wards.
New Delhi: The BJP-led North Delhi Municipal Corporation on Monday launched its new-look website with added features even as its mayor asserted that the move would promote e-governance and reduce the scope for corruption.
A major new feature of the website is the facility for residents to apply for mutation or change of name in property tax records online.
"The website is user-friendly and it would enhance administrative efficiency besides, reducing scope for corruption as it will cut down on human contact and promote e-governance," North Delhi Mayor Preety Agarwal told reporters.
Municipal Commissioner Praveen Gupta said the idea now is to go from "in line to online" as much as possible to get civic work done and offer more ease to people.
"Also, now people can apply for mutation of property tax records online. And, mutation certificate would also be made available online.
"The website also contains easy access links to various platforms -- Mayor helpline, call centre help line, online parking lot management system, and online unauthorised construction management system," he said.
Mayor Agarwal said the website would soon be linked with social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, so that it becomes more interactive for people.
The civic body had recently launched a mobile application for addressing parking woes, which allows residents to lodge parking-related complaints with the NDMC directly.
Soon after assuming charge on May 18, Agarwal had said that her top priority would be sanitation.
