New Delhi: The festive spirit of the very pious Ardh Kumbh Mela has started, making way for many sadhus and babas to take a holy dip in river Ganga. However, what caught everyone's attention this time is not just the number of devotees and sadhus who throng the holy city of Haridwar during the 'snan' dates but also somebody called 'Golden Baba'.
According to a report in TOI.com, this baba has been spotted wearing gold jewellery weighing15.5 kgs, which adds up to Rs 3 crore. Yes! Although it sounds unbelievable but this baba did take a dip in the holy dip wearing his shiny bright gold ornaments.
The report further suggests that the 'baba' came along with his own set of followers, who believe that their 'guru' is as precious as 'gold'--and that's probably the reason this baba turned into a 'golden baba'.
Well, his real name is Sudhir Kumar Makkad, who was a businessman from Delhi, before becoming 'baba'. Now, the baba does charity and leads a simple life, reportedly.
