'Virgin Tree', Damdami Mata help you find love! Details inside

New Delhi: Hey people, are you lonely? Never been loved? Failing to impress your crush? Fear no more. Meet the 'Virgin Tree'. Yes, you read that right, this is what this special tree is called and it is the solution to your messy love life.

This famous tree is located inside the Hindu College campus of Delhi University. And, it becomes the focal point of attention every Valentine's Day. Students from different colleges worship this the 'Virgin Tee' in order to find the man/woman of their dreams. No kidding.

Every year, a new ‘Damdami Mata’ (yes, that is what they call it) is selected. Then, her 'puja' is done to improve the love life. ‘Damdami Mata’ is usually selected from the list of top Bollywood actresses. The tree is decorated with ribbons, balloons, posters and water-filled condoms to performs the years old ritual.

For the record, ‘Damdami Mata’ has her own aarti. Here it goes:

Jai Damdami Mata, 
Maiya Jai Damdami Mata, 
Jab tum TV pe aati, 
Sara hostel nachta, 
Jai Damdami Mata. 
Chhatees, choubees, chhatees tohri kaya, 
Maiya Jai Damdami Mata.

To give it a more realistic feel, a pandit is chosen from all the students who performs the aarti in the traditional attire. It is believed that whoever eats the prasad finds a boyfriend/girlfriend within six weeks.

Well, that is a win.

A large number of people stage protests against this ritual every year and also tag it as an act of 'desperation'. But the students claim that this is done to create an awareness about AIDS.
