Amid Qawwali recitals, a 357-metre-long `chadar` was offered on the grave of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan Monday at the Taj Mahal.

Agra: Amid Qawwali recitals, a 357-metre-long `chadar` was offered on the grave of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan Monday at the Taj Mahal here on the occasion of his 357th Urs.
Thousands of people participated in the rituals, that included offerings of sandal paste, rose petals and special prayers at the graves of emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal. The 357-metre-chadar is the longest one offered on the emperor`s grave.
Chadars were also offered by many Muslim bodies and tourism organisations, in addition to the one offered by the ASI. Prince Tucy, who claims to the be last Mughal, a descendent of the Mughal family arrived from Hyderabad to participate in the annual event. Entry to the 17th century mausoleum Monday was free. IANS
