Court dismisses discharge application of singer Ankit Tiwari in rape case

New Delhi: Coming as a huge shocker to Bollywood singer Ankit Tiwari, a special women's court on Wednesday dismissed a discharge application filed by the 30-year-old vocalist.

As per ANI, the Mumbai-based women's court has quashed his application in the alleged rape case. 

The 'Galliyan' star allegedly raped a 28-year-old woman several times between 2012 and 2013 on the false promise of marriage.

On May 8, 2014, Mumbai police arrested Ankit and he was sent to police custody till May 12, while his brother Ankur secured bail in the same case. Later, Ankit was remanded to judicial custody till May 26.

The Tiwari brothers have alleged a conspiracy by their professional rivals after Ankit achieved nationwide fame with his popular numbers like "Sun Raha Hai Tu" in the recent blockbuster, "Aashiqui 2" and other songs.
