Jiah Khan’s suicide: Mumbai police arrest Sooraj Pancholi

Sooraj Pancholi, son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab has been arrested by the Mumbai police in connection with the suicide of actress Jiah Khan.

New Delhi: Sooraj Pancholi, son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab has been arrested by the Mumbai police in connection with the suicide of actress Jiah Khan. Khan, who was reportedly dating Sooraj for a year, hanged herself at her Juhu residence on June 3. Sooraj has been arrested under Section 306 of the IPC - abetment of suicide.

While initially Jiah’s suicide was thought to have been caused due to work-related depression, a six-page long unnamed letter found after the actress’ suicide – written by Jiah – blamed her troubled relationship for her extreme step. “I am broken inside. You may not have known this but you affected me deeply to a point where I lost myself in loving you. Yet you tortured me everyday,” read Jiah’s letter. Both Sooraj Pancholi and his father, actor Aditya Pancholi, had been questioned for over four hours on the day following the death of Jiah Khan. Rabia Amin Khan, who handed Jiah’s letter over to the police, had held a press conference where she blamed ‘unrequited love’ for the death of her daughter. Jiah had shot to fame following her debut opposite Amitabh Bachchan in the 2005 film ‘Nishabd’.
