London: Singing sensation Susan Boyle has seen off competition from actor Ewan McGregor to be named Scot of the Year.
The 49-year-old singer enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame on UK TV show Britain`s Got Talent in 2009, Contactmusic reported.
She has since enjoyed two number one records in both Britain and the US and was named Sony`s highest-selling international artist earlier this week.
The unlikely pop idol has now earned a much more personal honour - she`s been voted Scotland`s star of the year for 2010.
She received a 95 per cent share of the public vote, ahead of disgraced Scottish politician Tommy Sheridan, who is facing a jail term for perjury, in second place with three per cent.
MCGregor was third with two per cent in the ScotsCare survey.
