Los Angeles: Filmmaker Spike Lee says he won`t watch director Quentin Tarantino`s next film ‘Django Unchained’ as it is disrespectful to his ancestors.
‘Django Unchained’ is a western film based on how a South American slave and bounty hunter travel together to kill their enemy. But the Lee says it has offended him.
"I can`t speak on it because I am not going to see it ... All I am going to say is that it`s disrespectful to my ancestors. That`s just me ... I`m not speaking on behalf of anybody else," Vibe magazine quoted Lee as saying.
Later, the filmmaker wrote on Twitter: "American slavery was not a Sergio Leone spaghetti western. It was a holocaust. My ancestors are slaves. Stolen from Africa. I will honour them."
The movie stars Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio and Christoph Waltz.
