Ford not to return as Rick Deckard for `Blade Runner` sequel

Los Angeles: Actor Harrison Ford says he will not reprise his phenomenal role as Rick Deckard in the upcoming `Blade Runner` sequel.

Alcon Entertainment, the company that finances the sequel, has shot down the rumors saying that Ford is in early talks to join the yet-to-be-titled movie project, Ace Showbiz reported.

"It is absolutely patently false that there has been any discussion about Harrison Ford being in `Blade Runner`.

"To be clear, what we are trying to do with Ridley Scott (director of the sequel) now is go through the painstaking process of trying to break the back of the story, figure out the direction we`re going to take the movie and find a writer to work on it," Andrew Kosove, founder of Alcon Entertainment.

Kosove, however, said that he didn`t mean to disparage veteran actor like Ford, but the sequel is not planned as a continuation of the original film.

"It`s like asking if we`re going to make the sky red or blue, there has been no discussion about it.

"What Ridley does in `Prometheus` is a good template for what we`re trying to do. He created something that has some association to the original `Alien`, but lives on its own as a standalone movie."
